I’m Mortrek, and I make time-lapse videos relevant to biology and botanical concepts.
My technique has changed a lot over the years, but generally my goal is to produce a fairly seamless time-lapse video which creates the illusion of a plant moving in real-time. This involves a lot of technical aspects of photography that don’t normally apply to regular photography.
For instance, most energy-efficient lights have some sort of flicker issue, often due to the ballast or power supply, depending on the type of light. As a result, photos need to be taken at exposures that are a multiple of their flicker frequency, in order to produce a flicker-free final video.
I’ll try to share what I’ve learned from making videos in my posts. In the meantime, please enjoy my videos.
